Randall A. Smith is the founder and principal attorney of Lake Harriet Law Office and has practiced law since 1996. Mr. Smith earned his B.A. from Hamline University, his J.D. from Drake University and his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas.

Mr. Smith’s 16+ years of legal practice experience includes Divorce & Family Law, Family Mediation, Early Neutral Evaluation (both Social and Financial), Divorce cases involving complex financial issues (including the non-marital tracing of assets and the valuation of debts and assets), Divorce-related retirement account and pension issues and Spousal Maintenance (Alimony) claims, as well as Child Custody and Child Support cases and Complex cases.

Family Law cases can be contentious and high-conflict at times. There are options for resolving and minimizing conflict during the case, including Mediation and/or the use of Early Neutral Evaluation, a process which has been adopted by every county across the Twin Cities.

In some cases, despite best efforts, parties cannot resolve their disputes without a Trial.  On occasion, a Family Law Appeal is required to address the legal issues of the case.

Mr. Smith is actively involved in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and he conducts Family Mediation sessions and Early Neutral Evaluations (Social and Financial) in Family Law cases throughout the Twin Cities; Mr. Smith is on several different SENE and FENE rosters.
